How does OTL Guide Me at Home benefit its club members, aka "Mentors"?
If you’re a teacher, business professional, or subject matter expert, you can set up your own mini-business through the Guide Me club in just a few minutes. As part of the “club,” OTL promotes you, gives you access to the auto-scheduling system, and invoices Mentees for your time. But you work for yourself, not for OTL or anyone else. You set your schedule and handle your taxes through your self-employment.
What expertise do I need to be a "Mentor" OTL Guide Me at Home?
OTL Mentors come from all walks of life. You can be a certified teacher or counselor, a business professional, or a subject matter expert. The club’s goal is to have OTL Mentors for everyone from elementary to college students, entrepreneurs needing actual “mentorship,” seniors who have computer questions, or anyone who needs some guidance and virtual hand-holding. If you’ve got knowledge and skills to share, you’re patient, and don’t mind getting on the phone or a video chat; then you’re an ideal Mentor. You can check out our list of Mentor expertise.
How much will I make and when will I receive payment for sessions?
OTL has established a rate guide for 30-minute sessions, follow-ups, and weekly appointments, which is provided in the “welcome to the club” information. The standard formula is a $10 deposit from Mentees goes to the OTL club (and also covers Mentors club dues). The remainder goes to the Mentor (so, approximately $20-$25 per 30-minute session.) OTL Guide Me at Home requests that Mentees pay before their sessions. The club sends the invoice on your behalf to streamline the process. As soon as OTL receives payment, you’ll have it within 24 hours.
How do I get started as a Mentor through OTL Guide Me at Home?
How will I know when a Mentee books an appointment with me?
Whenever a new or repeat Mentee books an appointment with you, you’ll receive an email. Sessions are reserved based on the schedule that you post and maintain on Guide Me at Home. So, be sure to monitor your email during those times in case someone needs immediate assistance.
Is there something I can do to get more Mentees to book sessions with me?
Yes. There are a few things that’ll help to boost your presence as a Mentor. But first, you’ll need to know that OTL Guide Me at Home is just launching in early 2021, so it’s brand new and will take some time to get rolling.
However, the better your bio and keyword selection, the easier it’ll be for Mentees to find you.
We also ask that club members share postings on social media and participate in online discussions on OTL Guide Me at Home. If you take a few minutes to help someone out by answering a question, they may want more one on one time with you.
Can I promote myself in the OTL Guide Me at Home discussion groups?
Absolutely! Of course, above all, those discussions groups are designed to provide support and assistance. But if you’re answering someone’s question and they come back for more, you can give them a link to book a session with you.
What if I have more questions?
No problem! Please shoot us an email using our contact form and we’ll get right back to you. We can even set up a phone call to fill you in further on the Guide Me Mentoring concept.
